  • In Kiti, Larnaca is the church Angeloktisti (that means built by Angels). This 11th century Byzantine church was erected over the ruins of an Early Christian basilica. The original apse survived together with one of the finest pieces of Byzantine art of the Justinian period a rare 6th century mosaic of the Virgin and Child between two Archangels that can be found only in Cyprus and in Mount Sinai that have mosaics of this period survived the iconoclastic decrees ordering the destruction of most icons and objects of idolatry.

  • The eight meters high tower in Kiti (also known as Riegena Tower,Πύργος της Ρήγαινας) with a base of six square meters is a monument of military architecture of the late 15th century, built in the Venetian style. This is one of the fortified towers, dedicated for use as an early warning system for marine attacks.

Historians believe that the system extended as far as the city of Ammochostos / Famagusta, and possibly covered all around Cyprus.

The Venetian Tower of Kiti is the most well-preserved of the remaining four watchtowers. This captivating fortification constructed in the late Gothic style remained almost untouched until 1878, which is when the local residents began to use it as source of building materials. In early 1911, the damaged area at the base of the tower was filled in with grout, but the machicoulis (apertures in the parapet) and the parapet, which were destroyed, could not be restored.

In the center is the Lion of St. Mark, a heraldic animal and the heraldic symbol of the Venetian Republic, as well as the symbol of the naval and merchant fleets. The remaining towers are located in the villages of Alaminos, Pervolia and Pila.

The tower was registered as a historical monument in the first quarter of the 20th century.
